Janet Weeds
I love gardening and now run my own business, Garden Mentor LLP to inspire others to develop their gardens and enjoy gardening too. Working with my clients as a gardening companion, teacher, mentor and trouble shooter gives me a lot of pleasure.
I have been gardening since childhood when as a family, we grew our own fruit and vegetables and all took part in planting, watering then harvesting the produce.
Since then I have had large and small gardens, growing trees, shrubs, flowering perennials, fruit and vegetables. Creating ponds, designing new borders and coping with a maturing garden has always been a source of joy to me.
After a career working for an insurance company, I got the opportunity to take redundancy and decided to gain some formal training in garden and landscape design to follow my dream of becoming a professional gardener. I took the Foundation Degree in Garden and Landscape Design at Reaseheath College near Nantwich and graduated in 2007. The course included being involved in building show gardens at the RHS shows at Tatton Park and Gardeners World Live. This culminated in managing the build of a silver gilt medal winning garden at Tatton Park – a truly unforgettable experience!
After I graduated from Reaseheath I set up my own business Garden Mentor LLP in 2008. Since then I have helped many of my clients to develop their gardens. I have worked alongside some clients over a period of years and it is rewarding to see the progress. Others simply want a day or two to learn how to maintain their gardens.
